It’s time to celebrate a milestone achievement: your child is graduating from high school or college. While they’re getting their hard-earned degree, these types of celebrations come with a certain degree of mayhem. It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt or something breaks.

Graduation Insurance provides A+ coverage from financial loss resulting from third-party injuries or property damage claims. It can protect you against the financial consequences if someone slips and falls in her heels, hurts her ankle and holds you responsible. It can also protect you if a guest accidentally spills a drink on the DJ’s laptop, leaving it for dead next to the dance floor. Get Graduation Insurance to protect yourself from these types of mishaps and more.

What is Graduation Insurance?

Graduation Insurance is a type of event insurance that you can buy when you are having a party to celebrate your graduate. The insurance covers third-party claims including those from guests, vendors, and any venue you contract with for the party.

Your Graduation Insurance is designed to protect you for the day of your event, including set-up and breakdown. Or you can get it for a multi-day celebration over the weekend. With Thimble, you only need to purchase insurance for as long as you need it.

What does Graduation Insurance cover?

Graduation Insurance covers you against the financial consequences resulting from injury and property damage claims from people who attend your event. These could range from a slip-and-fall injury to a guest being overserved and injuring themselves or someone else.

While graduation parties can get a little raucous and out of control, Graduation Insurance will provide you with investigation services and a legal defense, when needed, even if a claim is groundless, false or fraudulent.

Take a look at the types of claims covered with Graduation Insurance:

band aid

Third-party bodily injury

If an accident happens during your event and you are liable for it, this will pay for medical expenses stemming from the guests’ injuries, including consequential expenses.

Third-party property damage

This covers the costs resulting from property damage to guests’ personal belongings or to the venue, like someone using permanent markers to write a congratulations message on the venue wall.

Personal and advertising injury

Plagiarism is not cool. If someone at your grad party accuses you of intellectual property infringement, this can help protect you.

Damages or injuries from liquor liability

If you are allowing alcohol consumption, you could be held liable if someone at your event overindulges and causes harm at the event or on their way home. If you are in the business of selling alcoholic beverages, you may need to purchase additional liquor liability coverage.

Graduation Insurance FAQs

What if I only need Graduation Insurance for one day?

Thimble’s special event insurance is designed for short-term needs. Our policies will cover your event between one and five days. That includes setup and breakdown time. Cancel your policy anytime before the policy goes into effect to get a refund.

Do I need Graduation Insurance if my venue has commercial liability insurance?

You will need to have your own event insurance policy even though the venue has its own commercial liability insurance. In fact, most venues will require you to furnish a COI that demonstrates you have general liability insurance for the event.

Do I need Graduation Insurance if my event is held at a private home?

Liability exists even if you aren’t at a big venue, and you’ll want to have protection for your event. Check with your homeowners insurance provider to see if your policy needs to be amended to cover this event or if you should get specialized event insurance to make sure you are protected for your big day.

What are Thimble’s Graduation Insurance policy limits?

Our liability limits start at $1 million per occurrence with a $1 million aggregate. You can increase the liability limits to $2 million per occurrence with a $2 million aggregate if you choose.

Does Graduation Insurance via Thimble cover event cancellation?

No. Our policies do not cover event cancellation. However, your event insurance policy is fully refundable as long as it is canceled before the policy start date/time.
